Yosemite National ParkYosemite National Park and Yosemite Valley are world famous for impressive cliffs, waterfalls and rock formations - the result of millions of years of glacial activity. Located in in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Eastern California . You can drive there by following the Central Valley south from San Francisco or north from Los Angeles . There are several small villages in the mountains near the entrances to the park. Most of them offer some limited facilities providing food, fuel, groceries or accommodations. Within Yosemite Valley , the park service offers a good variety of restaurants, foodstuff and accommodations. Yosemite ValleyYosemite National Park hold an amazing area of mountain-and-valley scenery which was set aside as a national park in 1890. The park harbors a grand collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests that include groves of giant sequoias, the world's largest living things. Highlights of the park include Yosemite Valley, and its high cliffs and waterfalls; it contains hundreds of ancient giant sequoias; Glacier Point's (summer-fall) spectacular view of Yosemite Valley and the high country; Tuolumne Meadows (summer-fall), a large sub alpine meadow surrounded by mountain peaks; and Hetch Hetchy, a lake in a valley considered a twin of Yosemite Valley.
